Lace Trimmed Tee Shirt by Sarah
Have you noticed that lace is showing up everywhere this spring-on the shoulders, at the neckline, insets on blouses and tees? Learn a simple lace pattern to create your own version of the trend with this lovely lace-inset tee or blouse.
Dates: Wednesdays, June 21 and July 12
Time: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Cost: $40 for class/10% off yarn for this project
Skill level: Experienced beginner or intermediate knitter; student does not have to be familiar with lace knitting.
Supplies: -one skein of sport or heavy fingering yarn (no thinner than fingering and no thicker than dk. Between 150 to 300 yards of yarn should work for most people. Our samples uses Diamond Luxury Organic, a cotton and wool blend.
- bring a sample t-shirt that fits you well. This is used to determine your measurements; it will not be used for the blouse.
-consider options for your fabric lower portion-you can cut the top off another t-shirt or basic blouse for the quickest method, or sew your own hem and underarm seams with the fabric of your choice. You will also be discussing these possibilities in class.
First Session: Set up, Planning and LearningTechniques. -explore options for your fabric (lower portion of the shirt)
-learn the lace pattern; instructions for knitting the inset
-begin lace swatch
Second Session: Complete the Blouse -seam the knitted lace sections
-hem and sew arm seams as necessary (sewing machine provided at the shop or you can hem at home beforehand.
-hand sew the lower blouse portion to your knitting and complete the blouse.
